Tarpon Time

Capt. Armando Alejo

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Greetings A2 fans,

We are on a typical summer pattern in the Flamingo Everglades. Tarpon, Triple tail, Snook with some Redfish are most prevalent right now, most of these fish are caught with artificial and flies (in some instances).
On a recent trip, my two clients and I came across an active school of Tarpon that must've held 100+ or more fish! Before not time at all, we switched to flies, which they favored that day… In no time at all, we hooked, fought and brought a healthy Everglades poon to the boat, and did so after 45 minutes! The rest of the charter brought us triple tail, Redfish and even some Trout.
All in all, we are targeting fish with 9wt fly gear, 40 lb tippet OR 3 series IRT reels with Cajun rods Savannah series also with 40 lb leader as well. We prefer GULP products, but sometimes also use other soft plastic baits.

Fish with us!
