Tarpon fishing on fly

Capt. Jim Hale
March 24, 2014
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Yesterday I had the pleasure to fish with good friend Jay Levine. A calm day beautiful morning and Tarpon rolling everywhere. The very first cast using a black and purple bunny strip "on the bubbles" saw a 60 pound Tarpon come out of the water and eat the fly, 15 minutes later we leadered him and off to find Reds.

There were many schools of slot sized Reds yesterday, We landed 2 Reds on fly using chartreuse bunny strips with weed guards. There also were a ton of Snook on the flats but could not seal the deal.

At the end of the day we went to see if there were more Tarpon and we found plenty more laid up but did not get any to eat.

Flamingo Fishing Forecast:

As always ....its only going to get better
