Wind, rain and heat but fish keep biting!

Capt. Jim Hobales
July 11, 2013
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

I am with Matt today at Flamingo, we netted some bait and went to work casting at rolling Tarpon. I had Matt casting a "Twitch n Rap"
off the front while I put out a finger Mullet off the back. The rod bent over and we had a big Snook headed to the trees where it got wrapped around a limb. I worked us in and Matt did a good job of not forcing the Snook out and eventually got it free. The big Snook gave up, and we landed her. We took some pictures and weighed the 15 lb trophy then made sure she swam off. Matt caught a few more along with some Redfish and Trout completing his "Slam". The Tarpon just didn't want to play today.

I am with Keith Marks and his son Tim down at Flamingo today. Its pretty nice this morning as we started out catching bait both pinfish and pilchards. The first few spots were slow but we kept at it, finally we had a fish pulling drag. The fish jumped and shows us its a Spinner Shark Keith picked up the rod and fought it to the boat. The Sharks were thick and ate every bait we put out. I moved around to a few spots before Tim hooked a 32" Snook, we actually had 2 but second one jumped off. Tim had the hot hand also catching two 30 " Redfish. They caught Jacks up to 5 lbs. numerous Sharks, Ladyfish and Snappers. The winds and rain roughed it up a bit in the afternoon but we stuck it out, we were the only car left in the parking lot.
