Winter Time In Flamingo/Everglades National Park

Capt. Steven Tejera
January 4, 2011
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Winter is here and the winter time fishing pattern is at full swing right now. Redfish, Black Drum, Snook, Sheephead, Triple Tail and Trout have all been on the menu. For the most part we have been fishing live shrimp close to the bottom. We have also been using artificial but the key with the artificial this time of year is to work it slowly, bouncing off the bottom. The red fishing has been excellent, on some days we easily reached triple digits with most fish being small but some big ones were mixed in as well. The action has been steady, most of our outings we have gone through 10 dozen shrimp within 4 to 6 hours and most on fish. 2010 had some excellent fishing days and 2011 is only looking better! Happy New Year!
