Good action on our fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We continue to enjoy sunny days and calm seas and while the bite has slowed somewhat we are continuing to see good action resulting in some nice catches on our fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale.
A good bit of bait has moved into the area and the cleaner water has remained close to shore. Pictured are some Kings, Mahi-Mahi, Tunas and Bonito and a nice Wahoo caught aboard the Marlin My Darlin.

The Kings continue to hug the reef line and prefer a bait fished deep. Most are still school sized fish with an occasional larger one. We did try for larger ones today for about 45 minutes with some nice bite sized live Bonitos fished on light tackle and short light wire leaders around a couple of wrecks but had no Kings take them, only Barracudas.

The nice Wahoo in the lead picture was taken in 350 feet of water just north of Port Everglades yesterday. A second Wahoo bite that morning in water slightly shallower (250 feet) didn't end as well with the Wahoo making a getaway there. Fishing deep lines drew those bites.

The Mahi-Mahi are once again up and down as good fish that were on weeds yesterday on the the 54 line have moved along with most of the weeds. Still some around but harder to locate today with mixed results all the way out to the 48 not being any more consistent. We are planning a quick look for them 1st thing tomorrow.

Tunas and Bonito have been eating predominantly small baits for some time now and a small bait will greatly compliment the bottom line at the end of the day.

Swordfishing is a good choice right now for a trip out into the deep water. We have two trips on the books for them and we are looking forward to getting a crack at them again. Snappers have been small and good sized sharks as the one pictured continue to pass by in water inside of 400 feet in depth and give the biggest pull of any near shore fish as the Sailfish for the most part as expected continue to sit this month out. Always a chance, but very scattered.
