Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

This afternoon we had a long time client of mine, David. He has been fishing with me for 3 years, and frequently books with us twice a month... This afternoon the wind was south around 10mph which makes great conditions for trolling the reef in Fort Lauderdale, which is located 60-120 feet of water, we stared out with our basic spread of 5 surface baits, and 2 down lines. We use planners for our down lines which allow the baits to dive as deep as 50 feet under the surface. Trolling around we managed 1 nice mahi mahi that was found in 300 feet of water on a small weed line, also we trolled the reef catching a few king mackerel, which is the largest of the mackerel family. With time running out and a great day already in the books. We get a surprise sailfish come into our spread and eat a surface bait. After a 20 min battle we landed the fish and safety released him on his way to fight another day.

Fort Lauderdale Fishing Forecast:

South wind around 10mph seas 2-3 feet
Target Species:

Mahi mahi, kingfish, sailfish, tuna, wahoo
