April Fishing Ft Lauderdale aboard Hooked Up Great Fun Must Read

Capt. Taco Perez
April 13, 2011
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

April 1
Ok so March is behind us and April is here and I've got to say that this is for sure the best month I have ever had in my life.
I would first like to start out by thanking all the hundreds of anglers and the thousands of readers that have fished with me and have been reading my fishing reports over the last 11 years.
But like all good things sooner or later they all come to an end but this is ending on a good note.
I won the Florida lottery last week and as much as I hate to say it I am all done fishing for a living and writing these fishing reports. Yep lady luck finally shinned on me and I got some 22 million coming to me or 17 million if I take it all at once and it looks like that's what I'm going to do.
But not to worry to my readers and anglers I've found this guy named Chris who has been washing all the boats for the last 5 years and I've given him my boats and he said he is going to keep the same crew so things should remain the same only without Captain Taco.
Chris has been living across the street on the beach for over 7 years now and with a little help from the crew we are all rooting for him to keep up the same first class standers we've always kept aboard the Hooked Up and he said he's going to keep up with the fishing reports too.
So having said all that once again I would like to thanks everyone and here's a look at my new boat.

Ok April fools I am still here doing the thing I do and when you think about it I won the lottery the day I started fishing for a living off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
So today we started out fishing with and yes I am spelling the names correct.
Hajime, Hideo and Louie all from Brazil.
Today it was eating fish they were looking for so we started out trolling the reef catching a box full of king fish.

Once we had our limit of kings we did some deep dropping with chicken rigs catching snappers witch the season opened today so they were biting well.
Thanks again to our new friends from Brazil and hope you guys enjoyed dinner.

April 2
Today we started out fishing with James and Jessica from San Antonio Texas.
We started out trolling the reef with 2-planner board running about 45 feet down along with a few surface baits skipping across the surface. Today the planners were kicking butt. We ended up with a box full of kingfish and a couple of boomer bonitos.
As we approached Hallandale Beach Florida we brought in all the trolling gear and started circling around a wreck with some little jigs caching a few small bonitos. Than we sent the little bonitos right back out only they went out with 3 trouble hooks in them. We slowly trolled them around the wreck till BAM the water exploded and we were Hooked Up.
It turned out to be a good 20 min back and forth battle but @ last up popped this MONSTER barracuda. (Now That's a nice FISH)

After some high fiving and some hand shaking back to fishing we went.
It seemed everything we tried worked for us today so we decided to try some deep drops for some snappers.
Once again everything was clicking like a watch for us today and we ended up whacking the snappers along with a couple of champion porgies and a couple of almaco jacks.
After dropping for a while found our self's a good 8 miles from our inlet so we decided to do some high speed trolling back toward our port and once again everything just worked today we ended up catching a couple of some great eating dolphin fish to end the trip on a great note.

April 3
Today we started out fishing with Janet, Randy and Mike from Illinois.
Fishing the reef was on the slow side this morning but we did manage to catch a few king fish and a couple of bonitos.
As we got back to the dock we had Andrea and her son Adam from Montréal Canada and Jeannine (AKA Woody) and Andrew from Pennsylvania.
This time the reef had turned around as if someone had turned on a light switch.
We ended up landing a few more kings along with 4 black fin tunas, 2 big bonitos and little Adam landed this whopper barracuda.
Thanks again to all of our anglers today for fishing with us off the coast of South Florida aboard the Hooked Up.

April 4
Today we had a great time fishing with Keith and Richard and their 2 sons Austin and Graham from Lowell Indiana.
We started out trolling the reef absolutely whacking the king fish and bonitos.
We also worked our way to a shipwreck where Little Graham landed this 50-inch plus barracuda.

More Fishing Reports:

Hi my name is Taco and I run one of the best charter fishing boats down here in South Florida. WHY? Because I’ve been fishing the waters down here since 1969 and I started at the bottom and worked my way up the ladder. I know what it is like to read a web site and than once you get to boat things are not as you thought they would be. Not here I say it like it is. No surprises. I’ve got a 45 foot Hatteras with a big cock pit. Fully aircondishened and refrigerated. Big comfortable platform.
