Aug. 23 – 27 – Taco Hooked Up Sportfishing-Fort Lauderdale, FL

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Aug 23
Today we had Pete, Frank, Steve and Don out for a few hours of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
We started out fishing for the sure thing with 2 planners running deep along with 3 baits skipping across the surface.
We were really looking for some good eating fish but while we were catching the heck out of bonitos they are just not edible.
We had trolled our way to the south off the coast of Hallandale Beach Florida and there was this shipwreck down here we were going to drop a live bait on just to see what might be around.
Once our live bait hit the bottom we slowly trolled him around the wreck till BAM the rod bent over and the fight was on. It was a good 10 min back and forth tug a war but @ last up popped this nice 35 pound amber jack.javascript:insert_image('

Ok so everyone had caught plenty of bonitos so the decision was made to go off shore and look for these lately hard to find dolphin fish.
We trolled all over the ocean but sorry to say that these dam dolphin fish have just been a pain to find and today was no exception.
Guy's thanks again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up and we are looking forward to fishing with you again this winter.

Today we had Jim, Patty, Ian and Jerry all from Westin Florida out for a few hours of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up.
We started out trolling the reef with 2 planner boards and with 3 baits skipping across the surface.
I can say for sure that catching was not the problem today. The problem was catching some good eating fish.

We were catching bonitos one after another pretty much none sop but there was not a dolphin fish nor a king fish to be caught.
We ended the trip with some deep drops catching them a few tilefish for dinner.
Guy's thanks again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Today we had Matt, Annemarie, Alex and Erin out for a few hours of deep-sea fishing.
We started out trolling the reef for anything we could get to bite.
Today trolling was just slow all around but we did manage to catch one nice barracuda and a black fin tuna for dinner.
Guys thanks again and like I said we owe you one so we're looking forward to seeing you again soon.

I would love nothing more than to write a fishing report about the big ones we caught but I do make it a point to write the good the bad and the ugly. While this is our back yard and we do play in it almost everyday we have a good idea of where to go and what to do but some times it's just slow and that was the case today.

Today we had Chris and Marge and their son Jack. They had just moved down from Long Island and now living in Coral Springs Florida.
Jack was starting a new school down here in South Florida and his parents wanted him to just have a good time fishing before he started his new life here in Florida.
We thought the best thing would be to start out trolling the reef just catching bonito's or any thing we could get to bend the rod.

But as things turned out trolling was slow for everyone today and we just were not catching any fish.
Ok time for plane B.
We brought in all the trolling gear and set up for some deep drops for some GOOD EATING tilefish.
While the tilefish were not biting real well we did manage to catch plenty for dinner and we will be taking Jack out fishing again soon.
Chris sorry fishing was on the slow side today but we sure hope Jack enjoyed eating those tilefish and we'll being seeing you guys again soon.

Hi my name is Taco and I run one of the best charter fishing boats down here in South Florida. WHY? Because I’ve been fishing the waters down here since 1969 and I started at the bottom and worked my way up the ladder. I know what it is like to read a web site and than once you get to boat things are not as you thought they would be. Not here I say it like it is. No surprises. I’ve got a 45 foot Hatteras with a big cock pit. Fully aircondishened and refrigerated. Big comfortable platform.
