Back To School In Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks
August 22, 2022
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, Lots of fish biting this week and I can't wait to tell you about it... This week is back to school time for all the kids in the south Florida area, but just because its back to school doesn't mean the the fishing is over. As of late the fishing has been more like catching on the inshore reef side of things there has been a ton of bonito in the last week catching 15 bonito on a 4 hour trip was not something that was uncommon, even though bonito are not good to eat on the dinner table there still fun to catch and pull very hard. Also on the inshore side of things there has been some very larger barracuda and a few king mackeral around from time to time, trolling remains the best technique to fill the cooler as of late, early morning trips like our 6 hour morning charter has been the best bite. Later evenings have been producing very well also with blackfin tuna. We just had a full moon and that made for some great wahoo fishing, trolling fast with baits below the surface and fresh bonito strips is key to entice a wahoo bite. Wahoo have been biting early while the sun is low and its not as hot outside. On the offshore side of things there has been a few mahi mahi but its still hit and miss, the best thing to look for would be birds or floating debris to locate the mahi. Bottom fishing as of late has been slow not many snappers biting and I think that is due to there not being much current, bottom fishing in general has been slow, we have been catching a few rose fish which live in depths as deep as 900 feet, so and electric reel is a must. All in all still lots of action out there on whichever trip you decide, please take a minute to look at some of the great pictures from this week of some great catches during our deep sea fishing charters. We have some availability this week so if your looking to do some deep sea fishing in the Fort Lauderdale area we would love to show you a good time. Also give us a follow or like on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Finishing up the month of august there still should be some great fishing to be had so be on the look out for the next report... more later Capt. Vinnie 954 559 4700
