Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
Fishing for blackfin tuna off Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood has been very good lately. The key, of course, is to make sure you have a full load of live pilchards. During the day, we're catching them mostly on the kite baits.
On Sunday, we did a late afternoon trip and the bite was very good. We had doubleheader sailfish - one on a kite bait and the other on a flat line. We also had multiple cut offs since we're fishing only mono for the blackfins, but we managed some kingfish some shark and of course our target species, blackfin tuna.
On Monday, we went out again for a late afternoon trip and setup right in front by the whistle buoy and caught a tuna on our first bait. We caught 3 more ranging from 17 lbs. to 30 lbs. We don't need to go out very far - we've been catching them north or south of Port Everglades inlet.
