Deep Sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Good catches continue to be available on our Deep Sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale. As we always try to include several pictures of recent anglers and some of their fish you have probably already noticed a couple of really nice Wahoo pictures taken here aboard the Marlin My Darlin. Both these beautiful and sizable fish took the deeply fished planer rod baits that I have mentioned in the previous reports as being so very productive and both of these fish were taken on the Stan Ruer homemade lure accompanied by a Bonito strip we have also mentioned in recent fishing reports. Proof is in the puddin as they say. Homemade really isn't a fair term even though as he ties hundreds all by himself in his workshop. 1st class quality "American Garage Built" and his hand crafted creations are based on decades of hands on fishing charter captain experience and are a fit in any fisherman's tackle box. We use them extensively.

A couple of Sailfish releases for us since our last report and those fish were taken by trolling and and once again those near shore reef lines are holding bait fish and attracting fish such as Wahoo, Sailfish and other species. School sized Kingfish continue to bite well most days and those Bonito that have been mixed in with them, while still passing through, have slowed considerably. The huge schools of those summer Bonito ( aka Albies in the Northeast) have moved on as expected and they will be much more of an incidental catch as we move into the Autumn months. There will be days when they are here and biting well and large ones at that, but the big rush is past.

A strong current has been running here and we have been doing pretty well on Blackfin Tuna. Fish of all sizes have been aggressive on surface bites in water basically less than 200 feet in depth. Those depths are less than a mile and a half off the beach. We are so fortunate to have fish of that quality so near shore here.

Beautiful weather here day after day with few clouds and again today we have clear sunny skies and no rain. And also today we actually have our first taste of the much awaited cooler weather. A pleasant 66 degrees this morning and a clear bright cloudless sky as Captain Kopper heads out the inlet in a flat calm sea. A full schedule of two half day fishing charters in Ft. Lauderdale today for us aboard the Marlin My Darlin. Tight lines and we'll see you on the rip.
