Deep Sea Fishing Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

October 20, 2013

The Lady Pamela II sportfishing boat had a great four hour afternoon charter with five guys from Toronto, Canada. I ran the boat while JJ kept the baits fresh in the cockpit. We trolled the reef for a little bit catching a few kingfish. Some were keepers, though a couple of fish were short that we threw back. Our guys from Canada were now primed for sharkfishing. JJ put out some nice bloody baits and within 30 minutes we had a bite. The fight was on, and then it was off, as the fish threw the hook. JJ re-rigged with fresh baits and 40 minutes later the big one was hooked good. The fish was a massive giant scalloped hammerhead that the Canadians fought for 2 1/2 hours before landing it. We got a great bunch of pictures and released it.

Driftfishing

On both Friday and Saturday night we had driftfishing trips aboard the Lady Pamela II that were spectacular. On Friday night our anglers caught 100 fish, mostly snappers, and Saturday night they landed another 70 snappers. We sure had a lot of filleting to do this weekend!

Mike captained the Pamela on Monday and the good bottomfishing continued. Our ambitious anglers brought in a bunch of big yellowtails. The crew also landed some big triggerfish, a few grunts, and even a couple Vermillion snapper. Good job!
