Sally and John Conver from Pennsylvania chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The temperature in Fort Lauderdale today was in the mid 80's with blue skies. This charter was Sally's gift to her husband, John – what a wonderful gift!!!! John requested to catch some Mahi Mahi's. I told him that in the past few days no Mahi Mahi's have been caught but that we would do our best.

Fifteen/twenty minutes from the dock, we were deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale by the sea buoy, 1.8 miles from shore in 120 ft. of water. We started out trolling with two #8 plainers down, one with a 2 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a white and pink sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip. For top baits, we went with four Bonito strips.

We headed east of Fort Lauderdale to explore the waters and see if we could find some floating debris or sargassum weed. In 400 ft. of water there were some scattered sargassum weeds, so we trolled the area. Sally (Mustang Sally) and John took turns reeling in their catches: ten Tunas and three Bonitos, but unfortunately, no Mahi Mahi's. John replied that the Tuna would be appreciated just as much for dinner tonight.

With happy anglers aboard the boat, it was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale 33316. Once at the dock, Dave, our mate, filet the fish for the anglers' dinner.
