Gary and Diane Robison from Ohio, both just retired and enjoying their lives together, were walking down the docks at Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale and stopped to admire the Happy Day Today, our 46 ft. Hatteras. Right then and there they decided to charter the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Sporty winds were out of the east today with blue skies.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two plainers down, both with sea witches with double hooked Mullet strips. For surface baits we went with four Ballyhoos. We trolled the reefs zig zagging in and out from 80 ft. of water out to 300 ft.

Our first strike, a Kingfish, was on one of the plainer rods. Gary was our designated angler, and Diane was the official photographer. From there we kept working the reefs, and headed towards some of our 34 artificial wrecks that exist in Fort Lauderdale, ranging from tugboats to 520 ft. freighters. These wrecks will attract bait fish and in return the predators will not be too far behind.

As we trolled, we kept catching Kingfish and Bonitos, making the total catch 5 Kingfish, two of them short, two Bonitos and one Sailfish that we pulled the hook on.

With pictures in the camera and fish in the fish box, it was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
