Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

A beautiful day again today in Ft. Lauderdale to go deep sea fishing. Wind was out of the southeast, about 6 miles per hour. There was a 25% chance of rain but you would never have believed it since the weather was gorgeous. In the late afternoon, the rains came in over the Everglades.
We departed at 7:45 am from Bahia Mar, Fort. Lauderdale dock on the Happy Day Today for deep sea fishing with Mr. Thomas Wilburn from Arcadia, Florida, and his two sons, one of which was 12 years old, Logan, his first deep sea fishing trip. Captain Zsak decided to venture off shore and go deep sea fishing to a depth of 500-800 ft to catch Mahi Mahi's and Wahoo's. The second line in the water on the deep plainer rod with a blue reflector, 3 ½ drome spoon, produced a nice Wahoo, Logan's first saltwater fish. Logan was hooked up for 15 minutes before landing the fish – he was thrilled with his accomplishment.

From there we ventured back into 120 ft. of water off of Ft. Lauderdale's sea buoy. In that depth of water, Mr. Wilburn and his party caught King Fish, Bonitas, Black Fin Tuna and Barracudas. The majority of fish were hooked up on the deep plainer lines with the 3 ½ blue reflector drome spoon on one side and a pink seawitch with a bonita strip for bait on the other side. A handful of the fish were also caught on surface bait (Ballyhoo).
We headed back from our 4 hour deep sea fishing charter trip to the dock at Bahia Mar, Fort Lauderdale. This ends another successful and adventurous fishing excursion on the Happy Day Today with Captain Zsak.
