Mark Brigger, Tyson Marlor, John Todd, Marcus Thalman and Jeff Antry decided to charter the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The guys were looking for good fishing action, and that is what we set to accomplish.

We left the marina, and once we got out past the jetties, I made a right heading to the south of Fort Lauderdale and offshore where there has been some decent fishing action. We got about 4 miles to the southeast and started the day fishing with our best spread of four surface lines, which included three Ballyhoos, one surface chugger bait and two deep lines. We fished a 3 inch blue spoon and a seawitch with a Bonito strip.

As we were trolling south, I moved out deeper and back to shallower water looking for a current edge, color change and, of course, bait. Flying fish and schools of Ballyhoos are what we look for. Once we marked the bait on the sounder, I started getting bites around the 200 ft. depth. All the guys took turns catching Bonitos, one after another, biting on all the baits, from the swimming Ballyhoos on the surface to the deep line with the spoon and the seawitch. The best bite and fish of the trip was a really nice Wahoo that Mark caught on the plainer rod.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. We had a great trip with solid action and hope the guys return for some more fishing action in the near future.
