Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We've had a few good days of sailfishing and dolphin fishing this week on our Fort Lauderdale fishing trips. The cooler weather has passed and beautiful weather is moving in. The next few days look to be beautiful. February is the last month of the peak sailfish season and so far, the sailfish bite is living up to its expectations. Best bite is on the troll or by way of using kites. We're catching them in 120-180ft of water on the blue-green color change. The sails are tailing down sea on the blue water side, so just fish withing a few hundred yards of the current edge and you'll be in the right area.

A days this week also had a good amount of sargassum seaweed around. It formed into a loose line roughly around the blue-green edge too. Dolphin are showing up around this sargassum in decent numbers. It's the perfect hunting grounds for mahi because the sargassum is loaded with crabs, small triggerfish and shrimps. It's a seafood buffet! Well, fishing around these sargassum beds is good odds at finding mahi-mahi, tuna and other species such as sharks and barracuda. It's all about the food.

Good fishing this week. Action, variety and potential for anything out there. Let's go fishing!
