Early July Ft. Lauderdale fishing report

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We'll start this Ft. Lauderdale fishing report by wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th of July weekend. It is a busy (long) weekend for us here @ Marlin My Darlin and we continue to fish offshore every day in very reasonable sea conditions. We happily still continue to find fish along the edges of the main reef line in water from 85 to 150 feet of water. Summer Kingfish continue to feed there along with other species including the larger Bonito. The Bonito passing through have attracted some very nice Wahoo, also visiting those same depths. Wahoo, unlike the majority of us who feel Bonito (False Albacore) are so low on the tasty list as to often to be found on the back side of the page have a very different opinion of these fish. Bonito are quick, fast and very maneuverable making them a less than easy target, but the Wahoo has all the same and some more. And the larger Wahoo will expend the necessary energy to nail these (at or near the top of he list) larger Bonito. We have included some fish box and other pictures of recent anglers and also a photo of a very nice Wahoo, without a doubt lover (former lover!) on those speedy full grown Bonito. Tight lines and good fishing to all of you from all of us here.
