Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here this week I have a nice deep sea fishing report for you guys, So this week it seems that the fall fishing conditions are starting to take place right now on the offshore side of things there has been an absolute fantastic mahi mahi bite going on right now just off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, anywhere from 5-10 miles off the coast has been a great area to be on the look out for birds or debris or even current edges. Early in the week there was a great current edge about 6 miles offshore with lots of birds and floating debris in it, Lots of quality mahi were caught, mahi are very aggressive and will pretty much try to eat anything once so trolling is always the preferred method, once locating something floating once you troll past this if there is mahi on it it won't take long to get a bite, this time of year it is also very important to bring live baits like pilchards or finger mullets incase there is a school of mahi, and live bait is something they can't resist, also we like to troll a deep bait on a planner with a spoon on it because most of the floating debris you come across will have wahoo underneath and you dont want to miss out on that, I would say the bite on mahi will stay consistent just before thanksgiving time so if you want to catch mahi now is the time to go. As for the inshore report this week some days have been better then others but there has been a great bite of kingfish lately in depths from 100 feet on out to 140 feet and early mornings have been the best, trolling baits under the surface has been producing the most. Also there has been some very nice sized barracudas as well, not a great fishing to eat but some of the larger specimens would be considered a "trophy fish". A great gamefish in my opinion with wicked teeth, fast runs and great jumps. On the deeper side of the reef, if luck is on your side there has been some quality wahoo around. Early mornings is going to always be your best bet if your looking to target wahoo from sunrise to 9am is always going to be the best time to get a wahoo bite. We are just getting to the peak wahoo season right here in Fort Lauderdale so it is nice to get a little taste of what is to come here in the winter months. This week please check out some of the great photos of some recent catches we had this week while out on our deep sea fishing charters, and remember to follow us on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. As fall approaches Fort Lauderdale the winter time fishing comes into play, I would expect to see some steady sailfish action as well as the wahoo fishery picking up drastically and the blackfin tunas to show up too, for now its a waiting game... but if you are coming down to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing it is a great time to do so, please look us up we would love to show you a great time on the water.. more later...
