Family Fishing Charters

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

November 7, 2013

Darrin and I headed out today in the Lady Pamela II for a six hour fishing trip with Bill and his family from Ohio. The goal for today was for Bill, his son, and son-in-law to catch a billfish. We picked up some live goggleyes at Fort Lauderdale Marina and headed out of Port Everglades inlet. The wind was out of the southeast along with a smoking south current running about 3 knots. We put out the kites with live goggleyes in about 250 feet of water, and put one big shark bait on the bottom. It was a long two hours before we got the first bite, but it was giant seven and half foot Atlantic sailfish that took nearly 40 minutes to get behind the boat. This was a spectacular catch and we got some great pictures before releasing the fish and putting the baits back out.

The wind had moved the Pamela in to 130 feet of water but there were fish here too. We caught a couple of mahi-mahi and a king mackerel on the kites. Then, in the last hour of the trip we hooked up another sailfish. Bill and his family from Ohio got what they were angling for and then some! Sailfish, mahi, and king mackerel on the hook sure made for a fun day.
