Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
West Coast anglers from Naples, Florida, Jim Weigel and friends, made their monthly fishing trip to Fort Lauderdale with us to do some charter fishing aboard the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team. As Jim explained, the distance to get out to the fishing grounds in Naples is a 45 mile run; compare this to our fishing grounds in Fort Lauderdale FL which is 1.8 miles from shore – you get more fishing time for your dollar.
We started working the reef with two plainers down, a 3 ½ drone spoon on one and a double hook Mullet strip on the other. We caught Bonitos which weighed from 6-18 lbs; they are an extremely hard fighting fish that fights similar to a Tuna. We added 4 Barracudas to the catch as we trolled south of Fort Lauderdale FL to a shallow wreck that sits in 104 ft. of water. Once at the wreck, we caught 4 Kingfish, all in the 12-15 lb. class, which will be on the dinner menu for the boys tonight. It was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316
