Fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale targeting Wahoo and Mahi-Mah

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
Once again it seems that the month has flown by and we find ourselves in April. Spring break is winding down and so has that persistent wind. Almost dead still this morning with a good number of clouds trying to get in the way of that sun, but lots of sun will be getting through and the forecast is favorable all week for fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale. Highs in the low 80s all week and a chance of rain on Thursday, and then back to what we see now, great weather and minimal chances of showers. The fishing has remained erratic with some good fishing days mixed in with tougher days and this pattern has remained for some time now.
Wahoo and Mahi-Mahi have been just offshore of the reefs and we have been concentrating our efforts in that area. The Wahoo have been in water ranging from 150 to 350 feet in depth and trolling deep planer lines has drawn bites from these speedsters. Only an occasional surface bite with those deep running lines being far more productive for Wahoo. Always nice to see these fish around and they prefer blue water and current, but we see them in the off color water too. They like to hang around structure and a color change or current edge is also a good place to fish.
There are more Mahi-Mahi in our area now as this is the time of year we begin to see their numbers increase. Hopefully it will be a good summer for them and we are beginning to see more of them now. This activity begins close to shore and as we move into the summer the Mahi-Mahi will often prefer to be further offshore but for now we have seen them near those Wahoo hanging in the near the reef depths, but that will change soon. So we pick away at the scattered Mahi for now and there are some Blackfin Tunas in the same depths. High current has limited bottom fishing for now but the flip side is the chance for the fish that are often around in strong current conditions and like it, those Wahoo and Mahi.
