Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We continue to find that the best and most dependable action for our customers remains within two miles of shore on the majority of our Fort Lauderdale fishing charters. The extreme current we had been experiencing has slowed to a more reasonable speed.

With the current backing off we have seen the Kings showing a tendency to prefer water from 90 to 130 feet in depth. Deep lines trolled slowly get the most bites but we have had some kings taking surface baits too. The water clarity is slightly off and the Sargasso weed has once again become thick and not only on the reefs but out in the deep as well.

Fat Bonito just outside the Kings as has been the norm. Bunches of them moving through with surface and deep fished lines getting about the same amount of attention.

Nice Amberjacks on the wrecks now and a frisky live bait typically doesn't last too long when you sink it down in front of these Jacks. They like a jig too but more bites and bigger fish on the live baits. With the lessening of the current these fish are more accessible now.
Tunas off the reefs edge but they can be erratic. A coupe of more Wahoo around now and there are sharks moving through in 100 to 400 feet of water. Nice Hammerhead yesterday in 100 feet of water and we fed him right at the transom. Good visual bite there.
