Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Bob and Ang Fisher from Bayfield, Ontario did their research on chartering a fishing boat to do some deep sea sport fishing and chose the Top Shot Sportfishing team for their fishing excursion. They were celebrating their 20 year wedding anniversary in this fishing charter. Winds today were out of the east at 10-15 mph with blue skies and mild temperature – a perfect fishing day in Fort Lauderdale. As the Fisher's boarded the boat, they were greeted by Captain Mark and his mate, Fred.

We started out trolling in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale with two #8 plainers down and four Ballyhoos for surface baits fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, which is 1.8 miles from shore.

We trolled the reefs ranging in depth of water from 80 ft. out to 165 ft. catching Kingfish and Barracudas. I could see to the east of Fort Lauderdale some birds working, so I decided to investigate the area. I came across some scattered weeds in the area that the birds were working north of Fort Lauderdale. Right rigger – left rigger – Mahi Mahi's – we had a double header of his and her fish. The Fishers's did a good job in reeling in their catches. We continued working the area and caught a few more Mahi Mahi's and some Tunas.

With a total of four Mahi Mahi's, four Black Fin Tunas, two Kingfish, two Barracudas, and a smile on the Fishers' (what a great name for the occasion) face, it was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
