Patrick Robb and family, wife, Rebecca, children, Abbie and Andy, and friend Chase Allen from Texas chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing Fort Lauderdale FL. Winds were out of the east at 5-7 mph, seas running 2-3 ft. and blue skies.

Our objective today was to go on a Shark safari with hopes of catching a good size Shark for Patrick. We started off trolling the reefs which sit in 120 ft. of water which is the drop off in Fort Lauderdale. You venture off another ¼ of a mile and it puts you in 500 ft. of water – a very fast drop off.

We put two plainers down and four surface baits; we caught Bonitos and Kingfish for the kids. From there we went out to 350 ft. of water, a little south of Fort Lauderdale to the Shark grounds. We put out one surface Shark bait, one midrange Shark bait and one bottom Shark bait and a kit with two live Goggle Eyes. For teaser we butterflyed one of the Bonitos and hung him from the outrigger to create a bloody slick. After an hour and 15 minutes, hoping to grab a tiger by the tail, he made his appearance. An 8 ft. Hammerhead Shark, only 5 ft from the boat, ferociously tried to eat the Bonito teaser, as I pulled the teaser out of the water. Rebecca was videoing the entire scene. Jackson, our mate, reeled in the surface bait trying to entice the Shark to eat, but to no avail. All of a sudden, the rod with the bottom Shark bait bents over – hooked up!!! – as the line peels off the 80 International Reel. We cleared all other fishing lines and Patrick hopped into the fighting chair to conquer his quest. Fifty minutes later, a Golden Hammerhead Shark measuring 10 ft. and weighing approximately 275-300 lbs rose from the depth, as Jackson wired the fish. Pictures were taken and the magnificent Shark was released to fight again.

With happy smiles on everyone's faces, it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale Fl. 33316.
