Fishing is Great in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

October 13, 2012
Fort Lauderdale Charter Fishing

There was a brutal 25-30 mph wind out of the north northwest kicking up 5-8 foot seas today, but we had three boatloads of anglers that were ready to fish. The Lady Pamela I, Lady Pamela II and the Lady Pamela III were about the only charter boats out today and we had a fishing bonanza. I was running the Lady Pamela II and we had caught one blackfin tuna and had a few kingfish chop offs when the Lady Pamela I called us out to a log that was floating a little further offshore. They already had six mahi-mahi in the box so we headed out there to get in on the action. On the first pass by the log we caught a wahoo and three nice mahi-mahi. I then saw a few frigate birds just north of us, in 600 feet of water, so I radioed to the LP III to join us and go after the birds. As soon as we got under the birds we all hooked up and it was fish after fish. All three boats were only out for two hours because of the weather, but I caught 12 mahi-mahi, two wahoo and a tuna, and the other two boats each caught more than six mahi-mahi and a few tunas each. All of our anglers were sick or queasy, but everybody caught fish. Way to hang in there guys!
