Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing remains consistent here in South Florida. Kingfish and bonitas remain on the reef and as we approach the full moon wahoo catches are becoming more common. To the north of us the wahoo bite has been red hot which means that hopefully at the next full moon it should be even better. Best bet for wahoos has been to high speed troll to try an find some concentrations of fish followed by slow trolling some big live baits from 150-400ft. of water as a way to save fuel. Occasional dolphin catches are still common with most of the fish at the 20-30" range. I have heard of a few blackfin tunas still hanging around though we are about at the end of when they will be here with some smaller fish lingering through the winter. Swordfish has remained slow but there are enough fish out there to give you a good shot. One good thing about the higher prices of fuel is that there arent as big of crowds on the sword grounds so it seems that this has kept the bite consistent. The wrecks are still holding some jacks as well as an occasional snapper, grouper, and cobia to keep things exciting. Coming into the fall fishing will only get better so nows the time to get out.
