Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fort Lauderdale fishing has shown a trend the last few years for Mahi in October and November. Today we had the pleasure of fishing with Jennifer and her husband Tom. Jennifer wanted to surprise Tom; he works 24/ 7 and never does anything for himself. Today was HIS day. I personally think Jennifer got a kick out of it too.
We had released a Sailfish with our Russian buddy Yuri in the morning and were hoping for a repeat for Tom. Our shot came right off the bat, a Sailfish approached, bit and was on… But only for a moment… Even before we could transfer the rod to Tom, the fish had escaped.
Magnificent Frigate birds were working overhead by the sea buoy where we had our bite. It only took a few moments and we had a Mahi-mahi on. These fish are always such a pleasure to catch, being so acrobatic and jumping as they fight. It's a great defense, they often elude capture this way. This one didn't… One for the box.
As our afternoon went on we pretty much had consistent action here and there following the birds. They led the way and we caught the bounty. 10 in all and a few Tunas to boot.
Our summer fishing is in full bloom in November. Charter fishing off Fort Lauderdale for Mahi. Where were they in June and July?
Target Species:

Sailfish, Shark, Dolphin, Tuna, Wahoo Kingfish, Bonito, Barracuda, Swordfish Marlin and more...
