Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
Charter fishing in Fort Lauderdale with the family and kids seems to be one of those things enjoyed. It's not something you can do many places in the country so why not enjoy and give it a try? It could be you are traveling with the family from somewhere in the north like Tim and his 9 year old daughter Analyze, or perhaps your parents are visiting from Illinois as Jessica's da Art did. Two separate groups of two, meeting on the boat for a fishing trip. And both groups said the same thing. They didn't really care what they caught, they were just looking to enjoy a boat ride. They got much more…
Mostly clear skies and a slight chop on the water made for a comfortable day at sea. A few Dolphin (Mahi-mahi) had been caught as we set out trolling. We never stopped and neither did the action.
A couple of medium sized Dolphin struck before we could set all the lines. We missed one but Analyze caught hers, I think it was Analyze… LOL Anyway, a good start to the trip with a fish in the boat.
The next bite was a moose Mahi, weighing in at 32 lbs.. Trying to get to the birds working close by, we never made it as this fish struck. This time it was Jessica in the chair as her dad took pictures.
These fish are always extremely difficult next to the boat opting not to join us for a boat ride. Pictured here is Jessica and mate Chris with her fish.
The day went on and we never stopped. At one time we had seven fish on at once and the final total came to 12 Mahi's, 2 Kings, a Bonito and a Tuna I think. To be honest, I lost count.
Jessica and her dad took a bag home to cook while Tim and his daughter headed next door to the restaurant with a bag of fish for lunch.
Charter fishing in Fort Lauderdale with kids or family might land you more than just a boat ride. Lunch can be provided too.
