Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fort Lauderdale charter fishing has been fishing the deep wrecks and reefs lately. It's that time of year when Amberjack, Cobia and more begin showing up on these habitats and who are we to let these go without giving them a try? This was exactly the case the other day when Noah and his dad Joe were aboard.
Fishing the wrecks and doing deep drops, sometimes more than 300' with live bait can produce some big fish! Noah and his dad had fished with Captain Rick last year in the summer time and had caught some great fish including a BIG Barracuda. Noah had his sights set on yet another big fish so off we went in search of his quest.
With broken skies and some choppy waters, the best way to fish these places is to be first. We went directly to one of these spots close to the port and made our drop. It took a few minutes, probably because the size of the bait was rather large, but soon a bite came and we were connected… with something… Something big!
Noah sat on his dad's lap and worked hard as he could to land this Greater Amberjack. He was quite pleased when the thud was heard as the fish was boated. It's one of the greatest thrills of this job… Seeing those eyes open wide when a fish like this is caught by an angler, especially at this age.

We also managed a few nice sized Dolphin (Mahi-mahi) before having to head in. Lunch and dinner were provided.
If I may, let me apologize right now of the infrequency of these reports. This time of year both Rick and I are fishing every day. We try to get it all in but sometimes just run out of gas.
If you need an up to date fishing report and one hasn't been posted, please feel free to give us a call and we'll fill you in on what's happening with charter fishing the wrecks and more here in Fort Lauderdale.
And we'll try and be more prompt…
