Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
Deep sea fishing in Ft. Lauderdale sure can be fun and exciting. Sharron was meeting her boys, Chris and Casey, here for a holiday vacation and our afternoon with them was superb!
Relatively calm seas and sunny skies make any boat ride a pleasure. To catch a fish or two while doing that? That was just a bonus for these folks.
We began with some trolling and after a bit had a rod and reel just sing out! A very strong strike had us clearing lines and grabbing the BIG gaff from the rack. A Wahoo maybe? Perhaps… a Sailfish, as we look for the jump? It took almost 10 minutes to land this 20 lbs. Kingfish into the boat. While a very respectable fish, not exactly the match for the strike we had. While our guests were amazed and delighted, Andrew and I tried to figure out how this fish cause such a commotion.
Trolling just wasn't producing much so we switched to live bait. This provided us with another Kingfish and a Mahi Mahi as well. A little something for the table is always welcome as we headed in from the deep sea in Ft. Lauderdale sailing into the setting sun. Not a bad way to end each day.
