Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale is HOT right now in both temperature and action. For over a week now, we can't seem to get more than 2 lines in the water before having our first strike of the day, as Brad and Paul, from Ontario, Canada found out. Trolling has been the most effective way to catch fish lately and if action is what you are looking for, right now is the time for it.
Bonitos are prolific on the reef area. They are plentiful and a blast to catch. Filling the box with these is happening on a regular basis and while their food value is poor, they are a valuable bait source for us and we keep as many as we can.
At times, they can almost be a nuisance because it's hard to keep a bait in the water long enough for anything else to have a chance. LOL Kingfish are here and biting, some very nice sized ones too. This has been improving for some time now and we hope it continues. Brad and Paul were also lucky in catching a very nice Wahoo that weighed in at almost 25 lbs.. Ok, it was 24.7 pounds, I'm a fisherman… I exaggerate a little.
We took Brad and Paul off shore a bit with some live bait hoping for a Mahi or maybe a Sailfish but never had a shot at anything. While Chris and I were disappointed in this, the boys from Ontario were not. They actually enjoyed the break from reeling in fish!
On the way back to the dock, they expressed their surprise in how many fish they caught. They took some of the Wahoo next door to the restaurant and had it prepared for their lunch. I'm sure they enjoyed it, it doesn't get much fresher than that! I chose the picture of the biggest King and the Wahoo for the report. Nice going guys.

Deep sea fishing off Fort Lauderdale is a lot of work for the crew right now, but the guests love it!
