Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Fall fishing in Fort Lauderdale has been excellent, with steady action on the reef and offshore waters aboard the Happy Day Today. Here's a look at some of our recent deep sea fishing charters and the great catches our anglers have been bringing to the boat.
Trip 1 – Ian and Crew Hook Into Mahi, Kingfish, and a Sailfish
Ian and five of his friends joined us for a half-day deep sea fishing charter in Fort Lauderdale, and the reef bite did not disappoint. We started trolling the reef with a spread of swimming Ballyhoo baits, sea witches, and lures, along with our always-productive planer rod and bridge teasers. The action was steady from start to finish — we caught a nice King Mackerel, three colorful Mahi Mahi, and capped off the trip with an exciting Sailfish release. The guys had some fresh Mahi for dinner that night and great photos of the Sailfish jumping behind the boat. We're already looking forward to fishing with Ian and his crew again!
Trip 2 – Variety Offshore with Repeat Customers Tim and Sarah
It's always great to see returning customers, and Tim and Sarah came back down to Fort Lauderdale this October for another offshore adventure. The bite was steady across multiple fishing techniques — trolling, bottom fishing, and wreck fishing. While trolling, we caught 7 King Mackerel, several Bonita, and a nice Wahoo. The bottom bite produced a Sandbar Shark, and over the wrecks we caught Yellowtail and Mutton Snapper. Another fun and action-packed day offshore with great anglers — we're already looking forward to their next trip!
Trip 3 – Reef and Offshore Action for Lisa and Her Husband
Lisa and her husband traveled from Pennsylvania and joined us for a Fort Lauderdale fishing charter aboard Happy Day Today. We started inshore trolling the reef where the King Mackerel and Bonita were biting well. After that, we headed offshore and found three beautiful Mahi Mahi to add to the catch. A great mix of fish and perfect weather made for an enjoyable day on the water.
Trip 4 – Father and Son Kingfish Bonanza
Leander and his son booked a 6-hour charter, and the reef bite in 150 feet of water was on fire. We had consistent planer bites with 9 King Mackerel coming over the rail. The left long deep planer line was hot all morning, and the sea witch with a fresh Bonita strip was the top-producing bait of the day. After the King bite slowed, we switched gears and tried some bottom fishing to round out the trip. A fun and productive day for this father-and-son team — we can't wait to have them back aboard soon.
Fort Lauderdale continues to offer great fishing this time of year with a mix of Mahi Mahi, Kingfish, Sailfish, Wahoo, and Snapper all available. Whether you're looking to troll the reef, fish the wrecks, or head offshore, now is a great time to book your trip.
