Fort Lauderdale Fishing

Capt. Mike Johnson
October 5, 2008
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fort Lauderdale's fishing remains strong this month. We have had quite a run of kingfish, while mostly on the smaller side 5-12 pounds lighter tackle provides the greatest action. Mahi mahi have been hit or miss offshore but when found are found in good numbers. Sailfish have begun to make a showing as the weather begins to cool and we get our first couple fronts it will really turn on. The mullet run has been very good as compared to recent years with large schools of both black and silver mullet coming down the coast and nearshore. Expect to find tarpon, sharks, snook and jacks in the feeding frenzy.
