Chris Hadley along with his four sons, John age 16, Luke age 13, Eric age 11 and Michael age 9, and his father-in-law, chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Chris is a boat owner and avid fisherman in Boston. As Chris boarded the boat, I asked him what was his secret on having four sons and he responded with a big smile – "just keep trying".

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling with two #8 plainers – one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a sea witch and a double hooked bonito strip. For surface baits, we went with four Ballyhoos.

As we trolled the reefs in Fort Lauderdale, our first angler was our youngest, 9 year old Michael with a nice Kingfish, followed by his brothers (youngest to oldest), Eric, then Luke then John while the grandfather recorded the action. Afterwards Chris and his father-in-law both reeled in their catches too. Their total catch was: six Kingfish and two Tunas.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. At the dock, Dave, our mate, filet the fish for dinner and sushi.
