Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
Our Fort Lauderdale fishing charters are producing on both morning and afternoon trips. Blackfin Tunas and Jacks have been in the area and in good numbers. The Tunas are outside the reef and on out to about 300 feet of water. These fish continue to be of "football" size for the most part but are occasionally bigger. The Amberjacks continue to gather in more and more numbers on the wrecks. Not all the wrecks are holding these Jacks yet but they are steadily spreading to different locations with increasing numbers in presence on the wrecks they have already occupied. These Jacks are big and strong. We are catching Kings and Bonito on the reefs with the Kings seeming to be of a decent size ( 8 to 10 pounds) or ridiculously small and below the legal length limit which means a fish of about a pound and a half. For those willing to live bait a good sized Speedo or Tinker Mackerel there are bigger ones around but the wait can test your patience. A few Sailfish in the area and most of these fish are still holding inside of 120 feet of water. Only scattered Mahi-Mahi as the current has chosen to change direction around mid day the last two days which means it stops before switching. Makes it tough to locate the Mahi-Mahi and they probably don't care for the switch either. Good strong current out in the Gulfstream on the Swordfish grounds. Tried the Swordfish night before last out there but failed to connect. Nice drift(s) and good presentation but no cigar.
Target Species:
Sailfish, Shark, Dolphin, Wahoo, Marlin, Swordfish, Bonito, Tuna, Kingfish, Snapper, Grouper and more...
