Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charters

Capt. John Logan
April 12, 2013
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We are catching many varieties of fish lately on our Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charters. In addition to the usual species such as Kingfish, Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo and Bonito and that old favorite the Sailfish we have had some fish take our baits that are not at all common here.
The Bluefish are still around but the numbers are far smaller. That really isn't so bad as they were ridiculously thick for a while. Now we can catch other fish as well. Beautiful weather and comfortable sea conditions again here offshore of Ft Lauderdale. We had Pete, his cousin and their kids out for a charter on a very pleasant afternoon.

That fish in the photo is an African Pompano. Not that common a catch. They are unique and this one had all his "streamers" intact on his dorsal and anal fins. Beautiful perfect little fish for a happy little angler. He caught this one on a live bait fished on a spinning rod and reel, and assisted in freeing the fish from the hook, then tossed it back into the ocean. Hands on fishing.
We had some Tunas as well and when first mate Chris asked them if he could fillet and package those up for them for a nice family dinner Pete said dinner was for 24 (family reunion), and left the catch for Chris and myself. Not enough to feed the masses today. Thanks Pete. Go Clippers. That one is for you and your family. Maybe you will get to play the Heat in the finals. It was fun today.

Target Species:

Sailfish, Shark, Dolphin, Wahoo, Tuna, Marlin, Swordfish and more...
