Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

With an abundance of blue skies, temperatures in the high 80's, 20% chance of rain,
prevailing winds out of the east, southeast at 5-8 mph and with a moderate chop, makes it so much more very pleasant in Fort Lauderdale FL than in the northern part of the country experiencing record breaking high 90's to 100 degree temperature.
Robert Reed and wife, Mary, from Cape Main, New Jersey included in their Disney World vacation a stop at Fort Lauderdale FL to charter the Happy Day Today Topshot Fishing to do some deep sea fishing off of Fort Lauderdale FL.
We stopped off at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale FL to catch some live bait. We had a chum bag hanging over the side of the boat and cut up Squid for bait to catch Blue Runners, Speedos and Tinker Mackerels which I planned to use as bait for some wreck fishing later in the charter. We trolled around the drop off, catching Kings and Bonitos in 110 ft. of water, putting us 1.8 miles from shore. By venturing off another .8 of a mile we were in 400 ft of water, and there we caught a few Black Fin Tunas, one weighing 26 lbs. At this time I was very close to one of the wrecks that sits in 370 ft. of water. I told Mitch our mate to pull in our surface baits and get ready to use the live bait to make a drop. We sat on top of the wreck and our live bait swam around thinking he was free until the rod bent over and Mary reeled in a nice 18 lb. Grouper that will be their main course for dinner that night with some Tuna Sushi on the side.
With a good catch of fish on the charter boat Happy Day Today Topshot Fishing, it was time to start heading back from our deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL to the dock at Bahia Mar. This ends another successful and adventurous deep sea fishing charter on the Happy Day Today/Topshot Fishing with Captain Zsak.
