Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We are having a great month of fishing Sailfish and Mahi-Mahi for the month of December off of Fort Lauderdale FL. The Mahi's are averaging 12 to 15 lbs and the Sailfish can average 5 Sails a week - so far, a great start and a good indicator of how fabulous fishing will be offshore South Florida in the upcoming months. Cold fronts originating from the northeast are coming down south which causes the pressure to drop and the Sailfish to begin their migration. Along with a good Sailfish bite and Mahi bite, we are also catching nice sized King Mackerel and Amberjacks located on the wrecks.
Our best method for targeting Sailfish has been using two fishing kites. The kites allow us to fish two baits off each kite which allows an attractive presentation for Sailfish traveling through our Fort Lauderdale waters. The Sailfish can travel by themselves or in pods; the pods can reach a number of two to over a half dozen or more depending on the migration of Sailfish off Fort Lauderdale. Sometimes, the Sails are pouring through and we have multiple hook ups - other days we are seeing one at a time.
If interested in fishing out of Ft. Lauderdale for Sailfish and would like to discuss the fishing trip with us, feel free to call and we can discuss the charter, offshore fishing for Mahi or live bait kite fishing for Sailfish.
