Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Bill Neal and friends from Rhode Island chartered the Happy Day Today with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL. Our target today was eating fish.
We left the dock at Bahia Mar - 15 minutes later lines were in the water by the sea buoy that sits in 120 ft. of water off of Fort Lauderdale FL. We had two plainers out, one with a black and purple sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip, the other with a pink sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip. For surface baits we had two Bonito strips, two Ballyhoos and one blue and white jap feather down the center rigger. Our first strike was an undersized Kingfish which was released. From there, we caught three other Kingfish and one Bonito.
I ventured out to one of my favorite artificial wrecks that is located in 285 ft. of water off of Fort Lauderdale FL. As I made my first pass over the wreck, one of the deep lines got a strike. Line screaming off the reel, rod tip bouncing up and down, a sure sign that we had a Wahoo on the end of the line. As Bill retrieved the line, our mate, Jackson, gaffed a nice 20 lb. Wahoo, the fastest fish in the ocean which could swim at a speed in excess of 64 mph. I could see birds working an area to the right of me, so as we got closer, I could see the Mahi Mahi swimming in the water. From there, we kept picking away catching a total of five Mahi Mahi's, ranging from 5 to 12 lbs, rated as one of the best eating fish.
With a smile on all the angler's faces, it was time to head home. For a successful and adventurous deep sea fishing charter in South Florida for Sailfish, Shark, Bonito, Mackerel, Swordfish, Snapper, Wahoo and Grouper contact Captain Zsak. - 954-309-7457 or email us at www.topshotfishing.com
