Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Eric Durand and friend John from Canada were in town for business as well as some time for a sport fishing charter. Eric arrived around 7:15am and we departed shortly thereafter. The guys wanted some action fish as well as a larger catch. We started out fishing for King Mackerel and Black Fin Tuna and caught some Bonita as well. Using strip baits, sea witch and Ballyhoos. The two deep lines we use the strip baits and one spoon. On the surface we used 5 Ballyhoos. After catching a couple Kings, Black Fin Tuna and Bonitos for the guys, we switched over to the larger fishing for sharks. The shark baits we use are one King fish on the bottom, one Bonito mid bait and one Bonito on the surface. By fishing three shark baits, we had one bait on the bottom in 350 feet of water, fishing one bait in 100' of water and the surface bait sits about 15' below the water line.
After about one hour of fishing for sharks, Eric got lucky with the Thrasher shark. The fight was about 45 minutes; we got the fish up next to the boat and snapped some photos of the shark. After catching the shark, it was time to head back to the dock.
