Fort Lauderdale Fishing Happy Day Today

Capt. David Zsak

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

An interesting group of guys from London chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some fishing Fort Lauderdale – five of Rod Stewart's stage set-up crew that travel around the world with him to set up his shows. Peter, the man in charge of Rod Stewart's crew, had many interesting stories of his travels around the world for the past 15 years with Mr. Stewart.

With winds out of the east southeast at 15 mph, 3 ft. seas and blue waters pushed into the second reef, we left the dock and twenty minutes later lines were in the water as I headed towards one of the artificial wrecks that sits south of Fort Lauderdale FL in 145 ft. of water. This wreck in the past few days has been producing nice Kingfish in the 15 lb. class range, and it did so again today, catching four nice Kingfish, ranging from 10-16 lbs. From there I headed towards another wreck – this one sits in 236 ft. of water off of Fort Lauderdale. As I worked the area, we wound up catching a mixture of 8 Bonitos, 1 Mahi Mahi and 4 Barracudas. I headed towards our 3rd artificial wreck sitting in 78 ft. of water. As I passed over it, the plainer rod with the pink sea witch Bonito strip bent over. This was an unusual fight – as we brought the fish closer I could see why – at the end of the line was a 16 lb Mutton Snapper, an unusual fish to catch while you are trolling – an excellent eating fish.
