Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

October 31, 2013
There were no tricks but plenty of treats today aboard the Lady Pamela II sportfishing boat, with Captain Darrin and JJ. The 8 to 12 morning trip began with some trolling on the reef for mahi-mahi, wahoos, kingfish or tuna. Mahi were the big catch of the day with our anglers landing five mahi-mahi up to 10 pounds, plus a couple kingfish, and a few bonito. Even with all this action there was still fishing time, so the team decided to try for sailfish.

The live well was loaded with live goggleyes so Darrin ran the boat south and inshore to 110 feet of water just off Hollywood Beach. JJ put up the kites with some nice frisky goggleyes hanging below, and in no time they had a sailfish doubleheader! It took nearly 30 minutes to catch both fish without getting them tangled up. JJ did a masterful job of wiring the fish, and once they were behind the boat the crew got some really good pictures and a pair of releases to make for one great Halloween fishing trip.
Tight Lines,
Capt. David Ide
