Fort Lauderdale Summer Time Fishing

Capt. David Ide
July 25, 2012
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

July 17, 2012

Today Leo and I had two four hour charters; an 8 am‑12 pm morning trip and a 1pm‑5pm afternoon trip. We spent the morning trip trolling, and it was great fishing. We trolled in 100 to 200 feet of water using fresh bonito strips behind planer boards and the bonitos and kingfish where snapping! The fishing was unreal as every 5 minutes we had another fish on. It was just an epic day of fishing.

The super hot action continued during the afternoon trip, as Leo and I kept on trolling. We kept on catching bonitos, and in the last hour started catching mahi-mahi, including one bull that went 15 lbs.

Justin and I fished a morning trip together, and the kingfish and bonito bite was on once again. Two hours into the trip we found ourselves in 250 feet of water where we hooked a nice wahoo. Angler Austin, from Texas, fought and landed this racehorse of a fish. It was a nice 30 lb'er to finish off a nice day on the water.

Nighttime anchor snapper trip Lady Pamela III

The night time snapper trips have been very productive using squid and lots of chum. Yellowtails, mangroves, a few a vermilion snappers, and some muttons have been biting as well. Mutton snappers are great fighters, which can be caught on the surface during our nighttime trips. Beat the summer heat by fishing with us at night.

Tight lines,
