Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fort Lauderdale Sport Fishing
January 21, 2011
Today, Leo and I had a full day fishing trip with George and his wife from Arizona. We left the dock at 9AM and George hoped for a Swordfish or Sailfish while fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The live bait such as Pinfish and Bluerunners were biting nicely. Trolling to the south produced two Bonito fish. The bite on the troll was pretty slow so we moved into kite fishing with live goggle eyes and whole bonito fish on the bottom. Live bait kite fishing wasn't producing any bites so we moved into wreck fishing. We made our first drop of the day in 200 ft of water and hooked a Black Grouper on a live bonito. George did one helluva job with his catch and release. Shortly after, George reeled in a Greater Amberjack fish. On our way back to the dock, I was running the beach and saw a Sailfish in 10 ft of water. Leo pitched a bait but the fish wasn't interested in eating.
