Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Ft. Lauderdale deep sea fishing continues to be strong and we are catching a mixed bag of species. Kingfish continue to bite in water between 65 and 100 feet deep. We are catching Kings trolling using dead natural baits on primarily deep fished planer baits but surface baits as well as on our kites when live baiting for Sailfish.
Small groups of gaffer sized Dolphin ( Dorado) are moving thru our Ft. Lauderdale fishing area again. Good fun and good to eat too. Sorry, but only an occasional Wahoo. Occasional is certainly better than none.

We had a successful fishing trip with Regina out of Oklahoma, Willie out of Kansas City and Tina out of right here in Ft Lauderdale as they all were able to catch and release healthy and strong Sailfish aboard Marlin My Darlin. Most of our Sailfish bites the last three days are coming on the kites and our most productive bait has been a live Goggle Eye. Live baits fished out of the riggers on Penn 950 series spinning rods have caught fish but struggling kite fished baits on Shimano TLD series reels have been the ticket for getting the Sailfish to bite. Quick aggressive bites on the kite fished baits have been the rule with only an occasional window shopper (no bite) or lethargic acting fish. Dorado (nice fish Jack) are also falling for the kite fished live baits as well.
Hammerhead Sharks continue to be on the move thru and into the northbound current. It's really not Ft. Lauderdale offshore fishing for these sharks as most are more like Ft. Lauderdale near shore fishing as the best depth is around 100 feet and less than a mile from the beach. Ft. Lauderdale deep sea fishing is offering a mixed bag of available species for some saltwater fun.
