Ft Lauderdale fishing

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

September 12, 2012

Today Bill and his family went fishing on the Lady Pamela IV with JJ and me. Every year Bill and his family show up in Ft. Lauderdale for some deep-sea fishing and fun in the sun. This time of year (September) we are mainly trolling the reefs and fishing a little further offshore for sharks. We are pretty consistently catching kingfish, bonitos and blackfin tunas. We even see a few mahi-mahi and wahoo.

Well, we had a better day than most as we started out catching a few kingfish using the planer boards and sea witches with fresh bonito strips. Bill was having a great time, and our fifth fish turned out to be a cobia. This is a great eating fish as well as a good fighter. They generally run around 30lbs, but the state record is over 130 lbs., caught in Destin. I'll bet that fish put up a monster fight! After putting our cobia in the fish box we caught a few more blackfin tunas to round out the day. It was one of those days where nothing could go wrong.

You all need to follow Bill's lead and join the Lady Pamela crew for some Ft. Lauderdale fun in the sun. We are the closest boats to the reefs, and only a short two mile run to the Gulf Stream where we catch all of these fish.
