Ft. Lauderdale fishing update

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Pictured is young Andrew Sallusto who joined us aboard the Marlin My Darlin for a charter while in Ft Lauderdale fishing with his family. As expected there are Kings and Bonito along the edges of the reef line about a mile offshore. Also we continue to see large Hammerheads with some regularity out in 300 to 400 feet of water. A nice hammerhead was Andrew's large catch and release fish for this trip to go along with King and Bonito.
Continued calm sea conditions almost every day with that afternoon breeze thankfully cooling it down a bit. Scattered thunderstorms continue to be a part of the South Florida weather as expected as well. Most are not too large and we can maneuver around them when offshore, but they do get us on occasion but most are moving quickly and the rainfall is fairly brief. 30 to 40 % chance of scattered rain on most days, the standard July forecast.
The current has limited our bottom fishing to shallower wrecks along the reefs. Jacks and a few snappers, all fun on light tackle. Sailfish remain scattered as do Wahoo. Mahi-Mahi are further offshore and often very difficult to reach on a half day charter, but inshore action has been reasonable and as usual within a mile and a half of the beach so we are getting a lot of fishing time stopping there with families and children to bend the rods.
