Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Great action on our fishing trips this week out of Fort Lauderdale. The snappers are biting good as they always do in May and June. This is the mutton spawn, where all the muttons congregate on some spots and do their annual spawning event. We catch them during the day or night, but especially at night. Yellowtails and mangroves are mixed in but the best bite is on the muttons.

There are some other nice fish biting too. Cobia are biting good on the drift boat this week. They are migrating up the reef, following the stingrays and sea turtles and other big sea creatures. We've caught quite a few cobia this week and they usually bite good for a few weeks every year, starting now.

Plenty of groupers are biting and some of them are keepers. Groupers have a rather large size limit on them, so they have to be pretty big before we can legally keep them. Many have to be released, but they are still a lot of fun to catch. Red groupers are biting good and there is sometimes even a black or gag grouper caught on our trips.

Good fishing all around this month and next. This is some of the better fishing we have all year on our drift fishing trips. The potential is there for anytime to happen. Good luck to all fishing over the next week. I'll sea ya on the water,
