Great Father and son outing

Capt. Vinnie Sacks
March 1, 2019
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Father and son Steven and Josh chartered YB Normal for a 4 hour private Deep Sea fishing trip from Fort Lauderdale. They were in Fort Lauderdale celebrating Josh's 16th birthday. We put the lines out in 85 feet of water and began trolling to the south about a mile and a half off Fort Lauderdale beach. We had 5 lines out 2 planners and 3 high lines. It wasn't more the 15 minutes we got are first bite on a #8 planner it turned out to be a 12 pound Bonita. We continued trolling to the south going from 100 ft. all the way out to the blue water in 500 ft. We changed colors a few times on the lures and got another bite in 105 ft. which was a cut off possibly a Kingfish or Barracuda. We decided to change coarse and head north there were a few big ships anchored to the north just off the beach in Fort Lauderdale and sometimes you might find a lot of bait around them which leads you to other fish. After passing the 1st ship with no luck we continued on to the 2nd one and just outside that one in 160 ft. are top line got crushed Josh landed the fish in about 15 minutes another big Bonita. We headed north into 100 ft. and got another planner bite this time a nice Kingfish we worked the area for a couple of hours and got our limit of Kingfish. By this time it was time to head back to our dock at 1005 Sea Breeze Blvd in fort Lauderdale just 15 minutes from Port Everglades. Josh had a great birthday him and his father took the fish to one of the popular restaurants here in Ft Lauderdale beach to have a fresh grilled Kingfish lunch. When in South Florida give Captain Vinnie a call at 954-559-4700 and I can set up a private Deep Sea fishing charter.
